Katie Katschke

Katie Katschke Wednesday THE ADDAMS FAMILY In the Sunset Spotlight! THE ADDAMS FAMILY runs through November 8th. We are spotlighting some of the cast and crew of this exciting new Musical!

1)When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?

I first started at Sunset Playhouse in 2008, as a Rising Star in Jack Forbes Wilson and Kay Stiefel Out of a Hat cabaret. From there, I was in two of the Rising Star cabarets, and appeared in FAME THE MUSICAL and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. I also spent one summer helping out at as an intern for Sunsets Summer Stars program.

2) If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?

Right now, I’m appearing as Wednesday Addams in THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

3) If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role?

Ive had the chance to play some of my dream roles already! Rosemary in HOW TO SUCCEED, Little Sally in URINETOWN, Kitty in DROWSY CHAPERONE, and now Wednesday in THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

I have a whole list of dream roles, but Ive always had my eye on Fanny Brice in FUNNY GIRL. Id also give anything to be in a production of SHE LOVES ME- Id plays any role in that.

4) What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?

Sunset has always impressed me with its professionalism. Friends who come to see productions are always surprised to find that its community theatre, and I love that. Plus, everyone here is so great. From the first time I came to see a show at Sunset as a kid, Ive always felt welcomed by everyone at the theatre. Its such a family-like atmosphere!

5) When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?

I work as a teller at Johnson Bank, and also as a standardized patient for the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Outside of work and rehearsals, I spend a lot of time knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, and creating an impossibly long wishlist of dresses from ModCloth.com.

6) What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?

Color: Green!

Food: Mashed Potato Pizza from Kates Pizza Amor├® in La Crosse. If you’re ever in town- try it. (For the record, Im not much of a pizza person, but I love potatoes)

Movie: Top five- Goonies, The Princess Bride, Adventures in Babysitting, Love Actually, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

TV Show: It depends on the week, but you can never go wrong with Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Book: Catcher in the Rye, Anne of Green Gables, Anything John Green. DFTBA!

Musical: SHE LOVES ME will always be the perfect musical to me, but HEATHERS is also big fun 😉

Play: I don’t have one in particular, but I’ve always enjoyed CRIMES OF THE HEART

7) What is your favorite quote?

Without music, life would be a mistake – Friedrich Nietzsche
