Nate C. Adams

Nate C. Adams in the Sunset Spotlight.  Nate is currently directing our next Furlan Auditorium production: INTO THE WOODS which runs March 1 – 17, 2018.

  1. When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?

I’ve been a fan of Sunset Playhouse for years! I’ve seen numerous shows, but this is my first time directing at Sunset, and I couldn’t be more excited than to start with Sondheim’s masterpiece, INTO THE WOODS.

If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?

I’m currently directing INTO THE WOODS at Sunset. It’s been a joy to work with everyone at this incredible organization, who care so deeply about community and theatre. It’s been a labor of love so far, and I can’t wait to bring this Sondheim fairy tale to life on the Furlan stage.

If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role?

I joke that I’ve retired from acting at 27, but my favorite role to date was also the role I never dreamed I’d play. Guiseppe Zangara in Sondheim’s ASSASSINS kicked my butt, challenged me vocally and mentally, but was also the most rewarding. Roles that would make me “step out of retirement”…Younger Brother in RAGTIME, Jimmy Smith in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Quasimodo in HUNCHBACK, Jack Kelly in NEWSIES, and everyone’s favorite guy in tight white pants, Fiyero in WICKED.

  1. What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?

I love everyone’s commitment to community. Theatre is inherently collaborative, and I love that Sunset brings the best of the best together to create. Sunset is supportive, encouraging, and gives you the tools and resources to be creative and dream on stage. There’s an inherent “can do” attitude at Sunset. It’s inspiring.

  1. When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?

When not at Sunset, I work full time at the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in their Advancement department. When not at the MSO, my husband Chris and I spend time with our dogs – Bucky and Archie. We kayak all summer long, hike, swim, and just love to be outside as much as possible.

  1. What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?

Color – Red
Food – Too tough to answer…
Movie – THE WIZARD OF OZ
TV Show – SCANDAL or FIXER UPPER
Book – Start with Why by Simon Sinek
Musical – WICKED

  1. What is your favorite quote?
