It’s turn-of-the-century New York City when we meet the enchanting, full-of-life widow Dolly Levi. This socialite-turned-matchmaker is actually a “professional meddler”, whose clients include Horace Vandergelder, the cantankerous half-a-millionaire, and a struggling young artist, Ambrose Kemper. The show is boisterous and charming, full of charisma and heart. The memorable Jerry Herman score, including Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Before the Parade Passes By, It Only Takes a Moment, and So Long, Dearie, propelled the beloved musical to an unprecedented ten Tony Awards-a record that stood for 35 years.
