Employment:
The Resident Technical Director is a member of Sunset Playhouse’s full-time professional staff, and is directly responsible to the Artistic Director. Specific duties are supervised on a day-to-day basis by the Artistic Director. This is a salaried, full-time position with benefits and its status is ‘exempt’ as it relates to overtime pay and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
General Responsibilities:
The Resident Technical Director is responsible for all technical aspects of all productions produced by Sunset Playhouse. This includes, but is not limited to, all production aspects for all Sunset productions, including set design and build, assisting with lighting design, and sound design; liaison for technical matters for rentals; maintaining the technical shop area and equipment; storing unused materials; providing general support of the overall production quality of the Sunset Playhouse; and assisting in providing general maintenance of the facility. Duties will be performed utilizing as many Sunset volunteers as possible, but as budgetary allocations permit or, if necessary, with paid guest designers and technical assistants. The Resident Technical Director will attend staff meetings.
