FOR 28 SEASONS, SUNSET PLAYHOUSE HAD ONE GENTLEMAN AT THE HELM. ACTOR, DIRECTOR, BUSINESSMAN, FAMILY MAN, MENTOR, GOOD FRIEND TO MANY OF US-AND TO MANY OF YOU, MR. ALAN FURLAN. TO HONOR HIS LEGACY, WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN AWARDING ANNUAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS IN HIS NAME.
FUNDING FOR THESE SCHOLARSHIPS COME FROM THE HELP OF SUNSET’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS, ALONG WITH LONGTIME VOLUNTEER GINNY KOPISCHKE, PLUS EVERYONE WHO BUYS COOKIES AND CANDY DURING OUR PERFORMANCES.
ON JULY 17TH, OPENING NIGHT OF THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, WE WERE DELIGHTED TO PRESENT TWO ALAN FURLAN SCHOLARSHIPS TO TWO DESERVING YOUNG WOMEN.
ALLISON ARMSTRONG IS A STUDENT AT UW-WHITEWATER WHERE SHE IS A THEATER EDUCATION MAJOR AND A DANCE MINOR. HERE AT SUNSET SHE PERFORMED IN OUR SEASON KICK OFF PARTIES, HAS SERVED AS DANCE CAPTAIN FOR THE MUSICAL GYPSY, ASSISTANT CHOREOGRAPHER FOR MILLIE, AND HAS SPENT MANY HOURS VOLUNTEERING FOR ALL KINDS OF EVENTS.
MEGAN CUNNINGHAM IS A STUDENT AT UW-WAUKESHA WHERE SHE HAS NOT YET DECLARED A MAJOR BUT IS TAKING SEVERAL THEATER CLASSES. SHE’S BEEN A SUNSET VOLUNTEER 5 YEARS: OPERATING THE LIGHT BOARD, WORKING ON THE BACKSTAGE CREW, SERVING AS A SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR INTERN, AND IS A MEMBER OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL ACTING TROUPE, ACTLETES.
FOR BOTH GALS, THEIR LIST OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE TO SUNSET PLAYHOUSE IS LONG AND WE ARE CONFIDENT THEY WILL CONTINUE TO VOLUNTEER AND SHARE THEIR TALENTS WITH US IN THE FUTURE.
CONGRATULATIONS!
(L to R) Megan and Allison
