Peggy Peterson Ryan is the Producer of our wonderful SideNotes Cabaret Series. Our next show: HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FOOTLIGHTS, runs April 7 – 9th. She has been a volunteer at Sunset for 40 years!
1. When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?
My first role was Anita in WEST SIDE STORY in 1972. Other roles were Rosie in BYE BYE BIRDIE and Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC. Most of my involvement has been performing, producing, or writing. And proofreading.
2. If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?
Currently I am the producer of the SideNotes Cabaret Series, and I’m so happy that Becky Spice recently joined the production team. As producer I work with management to select the acts, supervise production details, liaison with the talent, organize rehearsal schedules, create promotion, coordinate with the office, attend rehearsals and performances, and troubleshoot the millions of minutiae involved in a show. I’m also in rehearsals right now for the Musical MainStage at the end of April.
3. If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role?
All my roles have been … interesting and educational. One of my dreams is coming true when Becky Spice, Kay Stiefel and I reunite for HOLIDAY BELLES, the December SideNotes Cabaret. Not only am I excited about singing with the original three smart girls again, but the amazing Pam Kriger will be directing us!
4. What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?
The people are the best part of Sunset. They are generous, talented, enthusiastic, conscientious, dedicated, and so willing to work hard! It’s a great team, a real family.
5. When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?
We have a little place in Door County so I love being up there where it’s secluded and quiet. Then I can read, knit, crochet, watch the birds, do crossword puzzles … and color in my coloring books. I love my coloring books. I can even stay inside the lines sometimes.
6. What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?
My favorite color is teal. Or red. Or black. It depends on the day. I am addicted to movies so couldn’t pick just one. Same thing for books, except I am partial to biographies or autobiographies because I find people fascinating. For TV, anything sci-fi. Food? Did someone say chocolate? Chocolate is food, right?
7. What is your favorite quote?
Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. (Mary Baker Eddy)
8. Any other comments?
