Bob Fuchs

Bob Fuchs who is currently playing Herod in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR which runs April 18-May 5, 2024, now in the Sunset Spotlight.

When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?

My first on stage show at sunset was SOUTH PACIFIC in 1982. I worked backstage painting a year before building up the courage to audition. Over the years I’ve helped run lights, usher, and even stage managed.

If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?

Currently I am playing Herod in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. This is my 15th show as an actor at Sunset.

If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role? If a Production Team member, which show have you most enjoyed working on? What show would you like to do in the future?

My favorite role has to be Nathan Detroit and / or Nicely Nicely in GUYS AND DOLLS. As silly as it sounds, I’m looking forward to auditioning for Grandfather in GUYS AND DOLLS someday. Kind of a full circle thing!

What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?

I’ve probably answered this question a hundred times over the past 43 years.  When I was younger, I was star struck watching actors like Anthony Crivello, Frank Lisi, and Paul Troglia entertain Sunset audiences. As an older person, Sunset offers the atmosphere of a welcoming place for anyone looking to belong to a “family”. I believe the lifetime friendships I’ve made over the years is my favorite part of Sunset.

When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?

When I’m not at Sunset, I’m usually planning some fun get away with my best friend, and partner Peri.  (Girlfriend just doesn’t seem right at our age! lol) We’re almost 60, and we still tent camp, kayak, hike, and trail ride with our bikes. I’m also very proud of my DJ company of 43 years.

What is your favorite color/food/movie/TB show/book/musical or play?

Blue, Mama Mia Pizza and garlic bread, Godfather, not really a TV guy, where the crawdads sing (book), and CAROUSEL is my favorite musical.

What is your favorite quote?

“From caring comes joy”

Any other comments?

Life takes many twists and turns. It’s nice to know that Sunset has, is, and will always be a place to escape the pressures of a sometimes-stressful life.  Sunset will always be my home away from home.
