Cathy Marschall who plays Julia Leverett, Chair of the Cleveland Opera Guild, in the hilarious farce LEND ME A TENOR running September 10-27, 2026, now in the Sunset Spotlight.
- When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?
My first show was The Dixie Swim Club (now renamed to The Sweet Delilah Swim Club) in 2017. I played the role of Vernadette. My time here at Sunset has been spent primarily as a stage actor.
- If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?
I’m currently working on the comic farce, Lend Me a Tenor. I play the role of Julia Leverett.
- If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role? If you are a Production Team member, which show have you most enjoyed working on? What show would you like to do in the future?
Choosing a single favorite role is tough because I’ve been fortunate enough to portray several characters that have been especially meaningful to me. Among my favorites are Gingy in Love, Loss, and What I Wore, Dolly Biddle in The Kitchen Witches, and most recently, Vera Walters in Nana’s Naughty Knickers. Each role brought something unique and memorable to the experience
- What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?
Everything! What’s not to like? There is a wonderful energy at Sunset Playhouse, and you feel it the moment you walk through the door. I love the collaborative process of creating characters and bringing shows to life alongside other passionate, like-minded individuals. Sunset truly has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community or hoping to become part of a welcoming group of people dedicated to bringing joy to so many
- When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family while supporting the arts.
- What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?
Italian food, a cozy autumn-colored sweater, and a comedy to watch, and I’m a happy gal!
- What is your favorite quote?
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken” – Oscar Wilde
- Any other comments?
Sunset Playhouse is a well-oiled machine, and I’m honored to be affiliated with it.
