Jennifer Allen, who is currently the Stage Manager for MISS HOLMES which runs through June 22, 2025 now in the Sunset Spotlight.
- When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?
I attended my first Sunset production, JAKE’S WOMEN in January 2007 and was stage managing my first show, AMOROUS AMBASSADOR, by March 2007. Over the last almost 20 years, I have had the privilege to take part in all aspects of the theatre: stage management, props coordination, costume and lighting design, run crew, and front of house. I served on the Board of Directors, am a Past President, and was honored last year to be named a Life Member.
- If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?
Stage Manager – MISS HOLMES
- If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role? If a Production Team member, which show have you most enjoyed working on? What show would you like to do in the future?
I have fond memories of every show but NOISES OFF was an extraordinary experience – I found new things to laugh at every night. I’m pretty sure I took a sardine or two home on my shoes.
I would love to do MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS or CHICAGO.
- What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?
The people. After more than 25 shows, I love this place because of the people – that very special combination of cast and crew that make this production – OUR production – a memorable and enjoyable experience. Sunset is a second home and truly a second family.
- When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?
Outside of working in Employment Law/HR, I am mom to two small humans and a menagerie of fur-babies. We take regular trips to Door County to hike and swim.
- What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?
Color: Yellow
Food: Macaroni and cheese
Movie: The Wizard of Oz
- What is your favorite quote?
“Man plans, and God laughs.”
It reminds me that I can’t control everything, and that life is most rewarding in those unplanned moments.
