Jim Mallmann who is currently playing Paul Miller in the hilarious farce MURDER AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON’S which runs through September 21, 2025, now in the Sunset Spotlight.
- When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?
In 2013, I was cast as Bert (the cop) in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, and since then I’ve appeared in ten more shows on the Mainstage and two shows in the After Sunset series.
- If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?
Currently, I’m honored to be playing Paul Miller in MURDER AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON’S.
- If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role? If a Production Team member, which show have you most enjoyed working on? What show would you like to do in the future?
My favorite role to date is Marvin in FOUR WEDDINGS AND AN ELVIS. Dream roles include Ken in RUMORS, Lloyd in NOISES OFF, Elwood P. Dowd in HARVEY, and (someday) Norman in ON GOLDEN POND.
- What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?
This one is easy: the people. Whether fellow actors, production team members, staff members, or patrons, they’re all part of one big Sunset family, and the longer they’ve been around, the better the stories are that they tell.
- When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?
I work for Baxter Healthcare, and while my official title is still Principal Software Engineer, I work mostly in software security. Outside of work, during the baseball season, there’s a decent chance I’m at the ballpark. Go Brewers! I also enjoy playing board games, sheepshead, cribbage, poker, and golf, and I catch a fair number of shows around town, too.
