Megan Rose Miller

Megan Rose Miller who is playing Katherine in Disney’s NEWSIES which runs July 14 – August 7, 2022, now in the Sunset Spotlight.

    1. When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?
My first show at Sunset Playhouse was in the Producers as an ensemble member and I loved it! Now before every opening night I always sing to myself, “Opening night…. It’s opening night!”

    1. If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?

I’m currently in Newsies playing Katherine! It’s a movie I grew up on and I’m so happy to be a part of it. I’m constantly in awe of the talent of this cast. I love watching our newsies dance every night and our understudies are incredible!

    1. If an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role? If a Production Team member, which show have you most enjoyed working on? What show would you like to do in the future?

This is a hard one, I think my favorite role so far has been Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie. I’m a huge Sutton Foster fan so it was very surreal. I also loved playing Velma in Hairspray, there’s something fun about getting to be the villain! My top dream roles are Rose in Gypsy, Jo in Little Women, Sally in Cabaret and Bobby in the gender reversal revival of Company!

    1. What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?

The best part about Sunset and why I will always keep coming back is because of the people. I remember walking in for my first audition and I was so nervous not knowing anyone and then I heard Tommy say as he does, “Look at all the talent!” the whole room laughed, and it broke the ice. And that’s Sunset, being able to put on high quality and professional shows with amazing talent, and still make every person in the cast feel appreciated and welcomed to be a part of the Sunset community. After working all day being the corporate version of myself, it’s nice to have a creative outlet where I can fully be who I am and be accepted for that. I’ve also met some of my best friends at Sunset. It’s a place where I believe people can come together and there’s something special about that.

    1. When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?

During the school year I teach musical theater once a week to little ones at elementary schools through the Character Kids organization which I love! I’m a big Packers fan and will only miss a game if I’m performing in a show. Otherwise, I love traveling, being an adventurous foodie and spending time with my family and friends.
