How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
Barefoot in the Park in 2022 was my first show at Sunset..
Do you have a funny Sunset story?
In Barefoot there’s a scene where everyone eats “knichi” which we’re supposed to pop into our mouths quickly per a character’s instructions. One night some “knichi” missed the mark and made a powdery mess of my dress. Some actors, myself included, struggled to keep a straight face but it added a lot of new energy and excitement to the scene. I always love seeing how we as actors are able to work with an unexpected moment on stage to keep a scene moving forward.
When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
I enjoy being outside observing animals and spending time with my three rescue dogs. Other hobbies include thrifting, attending concerts and comedy shows, and beating my husband at board games.
What’s your favorite part about theater?
I love the sense of community and family that is built over the course of a show. It’s a strong bond but also fleeting. We spend almost every day together for 12 weeks and then a show ends and we all go our separate ways, sometimes not crossing paths again for years or ever. It’s a unique experience and one I truly treasure.
