Heather Blachowski
Sunset could not be more thrilled to point the spotlight on a new volunteer!
How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
I first started volunteering at Sunset when I was cast in Spamalot in the spring
of 2019. Since then I have also performed in Something Rotten and now Elf
the Musical.
Do you have a funny Sunset story?
Something funny to me is that this is the second show in a row that I’ve done
at Sunset where I’ve had to wear a beard on stage. In Something Rotten, I
wore a beard during Make an Omelet (women were not allowed to appear
on stage during that period of time) and in Elf the Musical I wear a beard
playing a fake Santa during Nobody Cares About Santa. After ending up with
a face full of red lipstick during Something Rotten, I learned that I need to take
it off before putting on the beard and reapply after!
When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
I am a mom to two sons, Aidan and Avery. I perform regularly with my 1940s-style trio, The Radio Rosies. I love to cook, attend concerts, and take dance classes.
What’s your favorite part about theater?
Dance is my first love as an art form, so that’s usually my favorite part of any
production. That said, I am grateful for the opportunity that theater gives me
to develop my acting skills and become more confident with my vocal skills.
But most importantly, the best part is the community and friendships I make
along the way. Some of my closest friends are those who I have met through
theater, including at Sunset!
THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF SUNSET PLAYHOUSE AND OUR PATRONS!
