Jim Mallmann
Sunset could not be more thrilled to point the spotlight on a new volunteer!
How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
In early 2013, I noticed on the Sunset website that cast lists and audition notices were being added very late, if at all, so I offered to help. My offer was gratefully accepted, and I posted cast lists and audition notices on the website for a little over two years.
Later in 2013, I was a late addition to the cast of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, and LOVE, SEX, AND THE I.R.S. marks my 10th appearance on a Sunset Playhouse stage.
As an actor, what are your dream roles?
Elwood P. Dowd in HARVEY is a dream role, but it’s been a while since any local theatre has produced that. Also, Ken in RUMORS and Captain Von Trapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC are on my list.
When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
When I’m not at Sunset, I work full-time as a software engineer for Baxter International Inc., and when I’m not working, I enjoy attending Brewers games, concerts, and other theatrical offerings. Also, as many who know me already know, I spend a fair amount of time, especially during winter months, tracking down old cast lists from local theatres – both existing and no longer operating – and, as I find time, I add those cast lists to AboutTheArtists.com. (I have literally hundreds of cast lists I haven’t entered yet, and I have many more for which performance venue or dates are unknown.)
What’s your favorite part about theater?
My favorite part about theater is the people I’ve met and continue to meet. I was first cast in a show in 2012, and over these past 10+ years I’ve met over 400 different people on and off stage and developed friendships I treasure.
At Sunset, I’ve truly enjoyed learning its history through the stories of those who helped create it.
THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF SUNSET PLAYHOUSE AND OUR PATRONS!
