Leslie Stanger – YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

Leslie Stanger

Sunset could not be more thrilled to point the spotlight on a new volunteer!

How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
In August of 2018, while working in the Theater Dept. at New Berlin West(Set Painting and Props) and Volunteering at The Box Theater in Oconomowoc(Props), I decided that I wanted to expand my horizons in the Theater world. I walked into the Scene Shop at Sunset and was happily greeted by Matt Carr… he handed me a paint brush and asked if I knew how to wood grain. I wood grained my heart out on the Set of THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER and the rest is History!!

Do you have a funny Sunset story?
Where do I start!!…Working with KJ and the Scene Shop/Paint Crew has been great fun. especially when Paul and Nancy stop in and Paul ends up zooming around the shop on a motorized chair….True Story!!! I love stopping in the Office as we always find something to laugh about…like how long it has taken me to answer these questions and how long my answers are!! Love ya Brooke!  How about the time Susan Zuern walked through the Shop singing “She’s a Brick House” Disco tune as I was painting my 1000th Brick for “Love, Sex and the IRS”!! Perfect Timing!  And then there are Production Meetings with Erika Navin and crew for The Children’s Theater Program….She has the best laugh, with Eric Welch a close second! I don’t know how we get any work done, but her shows are fabulous so having fun is definitely part of the process!

When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
I love to cook and bake for my family, go kayaking, work in my gardens and do projects around our house and yard.

What’s your favorite part about theater?
My favorite part of Theater is simply being around all the talented people that work so hard, in every aspect of production. Creating, sharing ideas, learning new things, problem solving… all with the same goal in mind….giving the audience the best experience possible!
That being said, Sunset Playhouse is my “Happy Place” and it’s an honor to be in the “Spotlight” as part of the Sunset Family!!

THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF SUNSET PLAYHOUSE AND OUR PATRONS!
