Sunset could not be more thrilled to point the spotlight on a new volunteer!
How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
When I first moved from California to Wisconsin, I was missing performing, and looked up local musical theater auditions. I auditioned for The Addams Family Musical at the end of that summer in 2015, and had a blast performing as Morticia in that show.
Do you have a funny Sunset story?
I have too many stories to tell just one. Stand next to me long enough and you’ll hear a story. How about the time my skirt fell off and I tripped over it walking up the stairs on stage? Or the time I let slip to a couple dozen children backstage that I was “with child”? Maybe the time I ran into the wing during an exit because I was supposed to be blind? That time I put on my audition form that I would only accept an ensemble roll if I could have a curly mustache- and meaning it. Perhaps having to tell Paco that I had fractured my shoulder and found out I was pregnant but could totally still be hysterical on roller skates? Auditioning for Elvis? Stealing an Elf’s tights to do an emergency sink wash for him? Getting to work with Cory for a 4th time and hoping he doesn’t break me on stage?
When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
When I’m not performing, I enjoy spending time with my family. We are members at a couple museums and the Milwaukee Zoo and frequent our local library. We are also excited to attend Oktoberfest for the good food and dancing.
What’s your favorite part about theater?
I love being a mum, but theater is an excellent chance to spend time with other grownups, make friends, and to challenge myself.
