How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?
I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to join Sunset Playhouse as the Leading Player in Pippin after over ten years away from the stage. I am honored to be surrounded by such incredible talent and am thankful to the Sunset family for welcoming me with open arms. I very much look forward to returning!
Do you have a funny Sunset story?
I absolutely love the myriad little pre-show rituals we have together. From raising our energy by belting Hamilton in the dressing room to covering one another in glitter, we really feel like a little family. I also cherish the little moments that happen backstage during the show: dancing along to choreography happening onstage, helping with speedy costume changes, offstage harmonizing; I treasure every memory I’ve made here.
When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?
I am passionate about my work as a pediatric neuropsychologist. Outside of work, I enjoy many hobbies! Singing is my favorite thing to do (in the car, around the house, anywhere I have the opportunity!), and I also adore reading, crafting, cosplaying, going to the theater, and spending time with my loving husband.
What’s your favorite part about theater?
Other than the feeling of a beautifully supportive community – being surrounded by others with a shared joy and passion for acting, singing, dancing, and storytelling – I would have to say that my favorite part about theater is the moment just before the curtain opens. The stage lights are low, the audience is softly murmuring, anticipation hangs in the air, and everything else…quiets. It’s just you and the show. It’s true magic.
