Veronica Tooke- NUNCRACKERS

How did you first start volunteering at Sunset?

My mom dropped me off at a Summer Stars camp here at Sunset when I was about nine years old. I had no idea what to expect, but I ended up enjoying it enough that I kept coming back! I graduated from camps to the summer Jr. musicals, where I was in Newsies Jr. and The Little Mermaid Jr. Just this past summer, I went out for Joseph as my first adult show and I hope to keep doing shows here for years to come!

Do you have a funny Sunset story?

Just recently, we had a Halloween themed Nuncrackers rehearsal, and when I walked in, I found our director, Beth, dressed in a giant inflatable elf costume. It caught me completely off guard and it still makes me giggle thinking about it.

When you’re not at Sunset, what do you like to do?

Eat pasta, lay down, listen to music, play Nintendo, geek about my favorite TV shows, and occasionally write short plays of my own!

What’s your favorite part about theater?

Theater has blessed me with some of my dearest friends in the whole world. If it weren’t for the people I’ve met while doing shows, I have no idea where I’d be right now. Every time I feel lonely, my castmates remind me that I will always have a home in the theater. The creativity is very freeing and the people are so supportive. I could go on and on!
